Thomas McKay (Canadian politician)

Thomas McKay (born 1807, died March 7, 1879) was a Canadian businessman and political figure in Upper Canada and Canada West. He represented Oxford North in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada from 1841 to 1844.

McKay was born in Perth, Upper Canada, the son of John McKay and Magdalene McNaughton, both Scottish immigrants. He was a merchant and justice of the peace. McKay also served as a lieutenant in the local militia. In 1836, he married Ann MacKay.

Politically, he was a moderate Reformer. He served in the first Parliament of the Province of Canada, supporting responsible government. He was later appointed Registrar of the County of Oxford.

McKay died in Ingersoll, Ontario.
