Shakma

Shakma is a 1990 American horror film directed by Hugh Parks and Tom Selleck (no relation to the actor). The film centers around a baboon, also named Shakma, who is subjected to experimental drugs intended to enhance aggression. During a live-action role-playing game (LARP) held at night in a university's computer science building, the baboon escapes and terrorizes the students, believing they are enemies.

The film is notable for its low-budget production and its unusual premise. While initially intended to be a straightforward thriller, it gained a cult following for its perceived absurdity and over-the-top violence, particularly the scenes involving the baboon. The name "Shakma" itself, applied both to the film and the primate, is not based on any known scientific classification or established mythology, appearing to be a purely fictional construct.
