George Thornton (American football)
George Thornton (born July 15, 1987) is a former American football defensive tackle. He played college football at Auburn University.
Thornton was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played for the Packers from 2009 to 2011, winning Super Bowl XLV with the team. He was released by the Packers in 2011.
After his release from Green Bay, Thornton signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2011. He was released later that year. He then played for the Buffalo Bills in 2012 before retiring from professional football.
Thornton was known for his size and strength. He was a key contributor to the Packers' defensive line during his time with the team.
