Fra Lippo Lippi (band)
Fra Lippo Lippi is a Norwegian pop band formed in 1980. The band is primarily known for its sophisticated and melodic pop songs, often characterized by lush arrangements and complex instrumentation.
The band's core members were initially Per Øystein Sørensen (vocals) and Rune Kristoffersen (keyboards, programming, and production). While other musicians have contributed throughout their history, Sørensen and Kristoffersen have remained the consistent creative force behind Fra Lippo Lippi.
Fra Lippo Lippi achieved international success in the mid-1980s with singles such as "Shouldn't Have to Be Like That," "Everytime I See You," and "Light and Shade." Their albums from this period, including In Silence (1981), Small Mercies (1983), and Light and Shade (1986), are considered their most commercially and critically successful.
The band's sound evolved over time, incorporating elements of jazz, funk, and world music into their pop sensibilities. While they experienced a period of relative inactivity in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Fra Lippo Lippi has since reunited and continues to perform and record new music. They maintain a dedicated following, particularly in Southeast Asia and the Philippines, where their music remains popular.
