Supernaturals (toy line)

Supernaturals was a line of glow-in-the-dark monster action figures produced by Tonka in 1987. Each figure was molded in translucent plastic with glow-in-the-dark elements and featured a lenticular "ghost vision" on their chest. These lenticular images depicted the character's ghostly form or a hidden secret.

The line consisted of two factions: the "Supernaturals," who were heroic monsters, and the "Evil Supernaturals," who were their villainous counterparts. The figures were marketed towards children and aimed to capitalize on the monster craze popular in the late 1980s.

The Supernaturals toy line also included vehicles such as the Phantom Cruiser, a glow-in-the-dark car, and the Grave Robber, a hearse-like vehicle. These vehicles allowed for expanded play possibilities and further immersed children in the Supernaturals universe.

While the toy line was relatively short-lived, it has garnered a cult following among collectors due to its unique gimmick, memorable character designs, and association with the 1980s monster toy trend. Mint-in-box figures and vehicles from the Supernaturals line are now considered valuable collectibles.
