Phat Farm

Phat Farm is an American hip-hop inspired clothing brand founded by Russell Simmons in 1992. Initially focused on menswear, the brand later expanded to include womenswear (Baby Phat), children's clothing, footwear, and accessories.

Phat Farm gained popularity throughout the 1990s and early 2000s by incorporating elements of hip-hop culture into its designs, which often featured bold colors, oversized fits, and prominent branding. The brand’s marketing campaigns frequently showcased prominent hip-hop artists and celebrities, further solidifying its association with the music genre.

In 2004, Russell Simmons sold Phat Fashions, the parent company of Phat Farm and Baby Phat, to Kellwood Company for a reported $140 million. Simmons remained involved with the brand after the acquisition, serving as a creative director.

Kellwood Company later filed for bankruptcy in 2009, and Phat Fashions was subsequently acquired by GBG USA Inc. The brand's popularity waned somewhat in the late 2000s and early 2010s, reflecting evolving fashion trends within hip-hop and broader popular culture.

In 2019, Phat Farm was relaunched under new ownership, with a renewed focus on its heritage and core aesthetic.
