The Gunman (2015 film)
The Gunman is a 2015 action thriller film directed by Pierre Morel, based on the 1981 novel La Position du Tireur Couché (The Prone Gunman) by Jean-Patrick Manchette. The film stars Sean Penn, Javier Bardem, Idris Elba, Mark Rylance, and Ray Winstone.
The film follows Jim Terrier (Sean Penn), a former special forces soldier and mercenary, who is forced to go on the run after being targeted for assassination due to his past actions. Eight years prior, Terrier assassinated the Minister of Mining of the Democratic Republic of Congo, a hit that was ordered by his employers. Now, those same employers want to eliminate him to cover their tracks.
Terrier must evade assassins and unravel the conspiracy behind the assassination order, while also attempting to reconnect with his former love interest, Annie (Jasmine Trinca), who is now in a relationship with his former colleague, Felix (Javier Bardem). The narrative takes him across Europe, forcing him to confront his past and fight for his survival against powerful enemies.
