Aquarium station (MBTA)
Aquarium station is a rapid transit station on the MBTA Blue Line, located under State Street in Boston, Massachusetts, near the New England Aquarium. It is one of the few stations on the MBTA system named after a specific landmark.
The station is accessible via elevators and escalators from surface level, and features artwork related to marine life, reinforcing its connection to the nearby aquarium. The platforms are located in a single tunnel.
Aquarium station provides convenient access not only to the New England Aquarium, but also to Long Wharf, ferry terminals, and the waterfront area. This makes it a popular station for both commuters and tourists. The station opened in 1924 as part of the East Boston Tunnel extension and has undergone several renovations and upgrades since then. It connects passengers to other parts of Boston via the Blue Line, which runs from Bowdoin station to Wonderland station.
