133rd Division (2nd Formation) (People's Republic of China)
The 133rd Division (2nd Formation) was a military formation of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of the People's Republic of China. Formed in February 1949, the division was part of the 45th Corps, under the command of the Fourth Field Army. Its predecessor units primarily came from the Liaoning Military Region independent divisions and regiments.
Following its formation, the 133rd Division participated in various campaigns, including the Pingjin Campaign and the Liberation of Hainan Island. The division consisted of the 397th Regiment, 398th Regiment, and 399th Regiment. In 1952, the 45th Corps was disbanded and the 133rd Division was transferred to the 54th Corps.
In 1960, the division was reorganized as the 133rd Tank Division. This marked a shift in its primary role from infantry to armored warfare. Following this reorganization, the division no longer operated as an infantry division and the 133rd Division designation refers to the tank division. Details regarding its later service as a tank division can be found under the entry for the 133rd Tank Division.
