Abe Jones (baseball)

Abe Jones (born Abraham Lincoln Jones, October 26, 1938) is a former professional baseball player. He was a right-handed pitcher who played briefly in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Washington Senators in 1963.

Jones signed with the Senators as an amateur free agent prior to the 1960 season. After several years in the minor leagues, he made his MLB debut on September 13, 1963. He appeared in two games for the Senators that season, pitching a total of 3 2/3 innings. He allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits and 1 walk, striking out 2 batters. He did not record a decision (win or loss). His earned run average (ERA) for his MLB career is 7.36.

Following the 1963 season, Jones continued his career in the minor leagues. He last played professionally in 1965. His career statistics indicate a promising talent that, unfortunately, did not fully translate to sustained success at the major league level. After his baseball career, information about his life is scarce.
