HMS Sabrina (1806)

HMS Sabrina was an 18-gun Merlin-class sloop of the Royal Navy, launched in 1806. Her namesake was the nymph Sabrina, the Roman goddess of the River Severn.

Sabrina served during the Napoleonic Wars, primarily operating in the Atlantic. She participated in various actions against French and Spanish shipping. Records indicate she undertook convoy escort duties and patrols to deter enemy privateers.

In 1810, Sabrina was involved in the capture of several merchant vessels and privateers. Specific details of her engagements are somewhat limited in available historical documentation, but naval records confirm her active service throughout the period.

Following the end of the Napoleonic Wars, Sabrina remained in service, likely undertaking peacetime duties such as coastal surveys or serving on foreign stations. She was eventually sold out of the navy in the early 1820s. Details of her post-naval service life are not readily available.
