Michael Gibbons (footballer)

Michael Gibbons (born 22 June 1995) is a professional Australian rules footballer who plays for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

Gibbons played junior football for the Williamstown Juniors and later played senior football for the Williamstown Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He won the J. J. Liston Trophy as the VFL's best and fairest player in 2016 and 2018. He also won Williamstown's best and fairest award in 2016 and 2018.

Gibbons was drafted by Carlton with pick 1 in the 2019 rookie draft. He made his AFL debut in Round 1 of the 2019 season against Richmond. He has become a consistent player for Carlton, known for his hard running and tackling ability. He signed a contract extension with Carlton in 2023.
