Oshigambo
Oshigambo is a settlement and constituency located in the Ohangwena Region of northern Namibia. It is situated relatively close to the Angolan border.
Oshigambo is primarily known for hosting the Oshigambo High School, one of the oldest and most prominent educational institutions in Namibia. The school, founded by Finnish missionaries in 1960, has played a significant role in the education and development of leaders in the country.
The constituency of Oshigambo encompasses a wider geographic area than the immediate settlement and includes several villages and agricultural lands. The local economy is largely based on subsistence farming and small-scale trade.
The population of Oshigambo and the surrounding constituency is predominantly Ovambo, and the Oshiwambo language is widely spoken. Culturally, Oshigambo shares many traditions and customs common to the Ovambo people. Access to services such as healthcare and infrastructure, while improving, remains a challenge for some residents in the more rural parts of the constituency.
