Jädraås

Jädraås is a small village located in the province of Gästrikland, Sweden, part of Sandviken Municipality. It is primarily known for its well-preserved historical industrial environment surrounding the Jädraås-Tallås Railroad (Jädraås-Tallås Järnväg).

The village's development is closely linked to the iron ore mining and ironworks industry that flourished in the area from the 18th century onwards. The Jädraås ironworks (Jädraås bruk) played a significant role in the local economy, producing iron and other metal products.

The Jädraås-Tallås Railroad, a narrow-gauge railway, was originally built to transport iron ore and timber to and from the ironworks and nearby forests. Today, it is a heritage railway, operated by volunteers, offering scenic rides and providing insights into the region's industrial history. Visitors can experience a working steam locomotive and explore preserved railway buildings and equipment.

In addition to its industrial heritage, Jädraås offers opportunities for outdoor recreation, including hiking and exploring the surrounding forests and lakes. The natural environment and the preserved industrial landscape contribute to the village's unique character.
