USS Marietta (PG-15)

USS Marietta (PG-15) was a gunboat in the United States Navy. She was laid down on 8 June 1896 by the Union Iron Works, San Francisco, California, launched on 6 March 1897, and commissioned on 10 May 1897, Lieutenant Commander Benjamin F. Tilley in command.

Marietta operated along the Pacific coast of North America, Central America, and South America until 1900. In December 1899, she investigated reports of disturbances among American settlers in Mazatlán, Mexico, but found conditions peaceful.

From 1900 to 1904, Marietta served in the Asiatic Squadron, participating in operations in the Philippines during the Philippine-American War. She also patrolled Chinese waters and supported American interests during the Boxer Rebellion.

Returning to the United States in 1904, Marietta operated along the Atlantic coast. In 1906, she participated in the occupation of Cuba. She was then assigned to the Special Service Squadron and engaged in operations in Central America.

During World War I, Marietta served on patrol duty in the Caribbean and along the Atlantic coast. She was decommissioned at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 21 November 1919 and sold on 26 February 1920.
