Oeste de Minas (mesoregion)

Oeste de Minas is a mesoregion in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is one of the twelve mesoregions of Minas Gerais as defined by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

Geography and Demographics:

Located in the western part of the state, Oeste de Minas is characterized by diverse landscapes, including parts of the Cerrado biome. The mesoregion is comprised of several microregions.

Economy:

The economy of Oeste de Minas is based primarily on agriculture, livestock raising, and mining. Important agricultural products include coffee, corn, and soybeans. Mining activities, especially the extraction of iron ore, also contribute significantly to the region's economy.
