William Cookson (cricketer)
William Cookson (born 13 October 1876, date of death unknown) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Lancashire between 1897 and 1901. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler.
Cookson made his debut for Lancashire against Somerset in August 1897, scoring 17 runs in his only innings. He played a handful of matches in the following seasons, but never established himself as a regular member of the team. His best season was arguably 1899, when he played in four first-class matches, scoring a total of 76 runs.
In his first-class career, Cookson played in 10 matches, scoring 127 runs at an average of 8.46. His highest score was 29. He also took 2 wickets at an average of 22.50, with a best bowling performance of 1/7.
Little is known about Cookson's life outside of cricket. His date of death is currently unrecorded.
