Ian Robinson (Australian politician)
Ian Louis Robinson (born 28 August 1926, died 21 June 2012) was an Australian politician who represented the Division of Cowper in the Australian House of Representatives from 1963 to 1990. He was a member of the National Party of Australia (previously known as the Country Party).
Robinson was a farmer and businessman before entering politics. He served as the Member for Cowper for over 27 years, becoming a senior figure within the National Party. He held various shadow ministerial portfolios during periods when the National Party was in opposition.
His political interests included regional development, primary industry, and telecommunications. He was a strong advocate for the interests of rural communities in his electorate.
After retiring from federal politics in 1990, Robinson remained involved in community affairs. He was awarded the Order of Australia medal for services to the community.
