Fleishman Is in Trouble (miniseries)
Fleishman Is in Trouble is an American drama miniseries based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Taffy Brodesser-Akner, who also served as the show's creator and writer. The series premiered on Hulu on November 17, 2022.
The story revolves around Toby Fleishman, a recently divorced hepatologist in his early forties navigating the world of online dating in New York City. His life is disrupted when his ex-wife, Rachel, suddenly disappears, leaving him to care for their two children. As Toby juggles his career, parental responsibilities, and the pressures of his newfound single life, he reflects on his marriage to Rachel and the events leading to their separation. The series explores themes of marriage, divorce, gender roles, ambition, and midlife crises from multiple perspectives, most notably through Toby's own internal monologue and the observations of his close friend, Libby Epstein. The narrative structure features flashbacks and shifting viewpoints, challenging the viewer to question the reliability of each character's account of events.
