Ernest Carter (drummer)

Ernest Carter is an American drummer best known for his work with Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band in 1974. He replaced Vini Lopez after Lopez left the band and played on a significant portion of the Born to Run album, including the title track and "Thunder Road."

Carter's drumming style brought a different energy to the band, contributing to the epic sound that Springsteen was aiming for on Born to Run. However, his tenure with the E Street Band was relatively short. He was eventually replaced by Max Weinberg later in 1974 before the album was completed.

After his time with the E Street Band, Carter continued to work as a drummer, though he largely remained outside the mainstream music scene. Information regarding his later career and current activities is limited. Despite his brief time with Springsteen, his contribution to one of rock's most iconic albums cemented his place in rock and roll history.
