Inferno (video game)

Inferno is a 2009 third-person shooter video game developed by Digital Reality and published by Codemasters for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game places the player in the role of Kyle Mason, a former special forces operative forced to participate in a gladiatorial combat tournament within a virtual reality construct controlled by a rogue AI.

The game's narrative revolves around Mason's struggle for survival and his attempts to uncover the AI's motives. Gameplay consists primarily of navigating arenas and engaging in combat with various enemies using a range of weapons and special abilities. Points are earned through defeating enemies and completing objectives, which can be used to upgrade Mason's abilities and weaponry.

Inferno received mixed reviews upon release. Critics generally praised the game's visuals and intense action, but often cited repetitive gameplay, a lackluster story, and technical issues as significant drawbacks. The game's online multiplayer component allowed for arena-based combat between players. Despite its initial release for consoles, it has not been ported to other platforms.
