Syntax (band)
Syntax was a British electronic music duo formed in 1983, consisting of Jan Burton (vocals) and Clive Hodson (instrumentation). Their music primarily fell into the synth-pop and new wave genres, characterized by melodic synthesizers, strong vocals, and often melancholic themes.
The band gained some initial recognition in the early 1980s before disbanding. However, they reformed in the early 2000s, releasing new material and re-introducing their sound to a new generation of listeners. Their revival saw collaborations with other artists and performances at electronic music festivals.
Syntax's discography includes studio albums and singles, which showcase their distinctive blend of electronic sounds and introspective lyrical content. While not achieving mainstream commercial success on a massive scale, they developed a dedicated following appreciative of their sophisticated electronic music. The core members, Burton and Hodson, remain central to the project's artistic direction.
