Lionheart (2018 film)
Lionheart is a 2018 Nigerian drama film directed by Genevieve Nnaji. It is notable for being the first Netflix original film from Nigeria.
The film follows Adaeze Obiagu (played by Nnaji), a hard-working woman who steps up to run her father's transportation company, Lionheart Transport, when he falls ill. She finds herself working alongside her uncle, Godswill (played by Nkem Owoh), in a challenging and male-dominated environment. Together, they must navigate the company's financial difficulties and prevent a potential takeover.
Lionheart explores themes of family, tradition, ambition, and the changing roles of women in contemporary Nigerian society. It also showcases aspects of Igbo culture and language. The film premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.
