Maze (band)
Maze, often billed as Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly, is an American soul and funk band formed in 1970 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area shortly thereafter, the band quickly gained a devoted following, becoming known for their distinctive sound and energetic live performances.
The core of Maze has consistently been vocalist and songwriter Frankie Beverly. Beverly's songwriting, particularly his use of heartfelt lyrics and distinctive vocal phrasing, is widely considered a signature element of the band's enduring appeal.
Other key members throughout the band's history have included Roame Lowry (percussion), McKinley "Bug" Williams (bass), and Larry Kimpel (bass).
