Momzillas
Momzillas, a portmanteau of "Mom" and "Godzilla," is a slang term, typically used in a pejorative fashion, to describe mothers who are perceived as being overly aggressive, competitive, or controlling, especially in regards to their children and parenting. The term often implies that these mothers exhibit pushy or domineering behavior towards other parents, teachers, coaches, or even their own children.
The application of the term "Momzilla" is usually subjective and dependent on the observer's perspective. What one person perceives as assertive advocacy for their child, another might interpret as overbearing or aggressive behavior. It is often associated with helicopter parenting, where mothers excessively involve themselves in their children's lives, attempting to shield them from all challenges and failures.
While the term is primarily used negatively, it can also, on occasion, be used humorously or even self-deprecatingly. However, the inherent connotations of being controlling and overly aggressive typically remain.
