Bezzecca

Bezzecca is a frazione (a subdivision of a municipality) of the comune of Ledro, in the province of Trentino, northern Italy. It is located in the Ledro Valley, near Lake Ledro.

Historically, Bezzecca is significant as the site of the Battle of Bezzecca, fought on July 21, 1866, during the Third Italian War of Independence, part of the broader Austro-Prussian War. In this battle, Giuseppe Garibaldi and his volunteers defeated Austrian forces. While a tactical victory for Garibaldi, the overall strategic situation forced him to obey orders to withdraw with his famous telegram, "Obbedisco" ("I obey"), when the main Italian forces failed to make significant gains elsewhere.

Bezzecca today is a small town that relies on tourism and agriculture. The area surrounding Bezzecca offers opportunities for hiking, biking, and watersports on Lake Ledro. The town also features a museum dedicated to Garibaldi and the events of the 1866 battle.
