Miitopia

Miitopia is a role-playing video game developed and published by Nintendo. Initially released for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan in 2016 and internationally in 2017, it was later re-released for the Nintendo Switch in 2021 with enhanced features. The core gameplay revolves around creating and customizing characters based on Mii avatars, which are used to populate a fantasy world threatened by a Dark Lord who steals the faces of the populace.

Players embark on a quest to defeat the Dark Lord and restore the faces to the world. The game incorporates elements of traditional RPGs, such as turn-based combat, character progression, and equipment acquisition. However, Miitopia distinguishes itself through its heavy reliance on Mii customization and the interpersonal relationships between party members.

The player assigns roles to their Mii characters and other Miis they encounter, including the Dark Lord and various non-playable characters. These roles influence their abilities and stats in combat. The relationships between party members are dynamic and affected by interactions both in and out of battle, leading to unique team dynamics and combat scenarios. These relationships can be both positive and negative, influencing character performance and triggering special events.

Miitopia is known for its lighthearted tone, humor, and emphasis on customization. The Switch version includes additional features such as more detailed Mii customization options, new job classes, and improved overall presentation.
