Air South (South Carolina)

Air South was a regional airline based in Columbia, South Carolina, that operated from 1994 to 1997. The airline aimed to provide low-fare service to smaller markets in the Southeastern United States. Its primary hub was at Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE).

Air South operated a fleet that consisted primarily of Fokker 100 aircraft. The airline initially focused on routes connecting Columbia to cities such as Atlanta, Jacksonville, and Myrtle Beach. It later expanded its network to include destinations like Charleston, Greenville, and Savannah.

The airline faced several challenges, including intense competition from established airlines and financial difficulties. Despite efforts to restructure and attract investment, Air South ceased operations in October 1997. The airline's collapse left a void in regional air service for South Carolina and its surrounding areas.
