A SugarComa, often stylized as "Sugar Coma," is a colloquial term describing a state of lethargy, mental fog, and perceived energy crash following the rapid consumption of a significant amount of sugar or carbohydrate-rich foods. While not a recognized medical condition with precise diagnostic criteria, the term reflects a common anecdotal experience.
The hypothesized mechanism behind a "SugarComa" involves a rapid spike in blood glucose levels followed by a subsequent and often rapid drop. The initial surge triggers the release of insulin, a hormone that helps the body process glucose.
