Owan West
Owan West is a Local Government Area (LGA) located in Edo State, Nigeria. It is one of the eighteen LGAs that constitute Edo State. The administrative headquarters of Owan West LGA is in the town of Sabongida-Ora.
The LGA is primarily inhabited by the Ora people, who are part of the Edo ethnic group. Agriculture forms the main economic activity in Owan West, with crops such as cocoa, plantain, cassava, and yams being cultivated.
Owan West LGA is bounded by other LGAs in Edo State, including Owan East and Uhunmwonde. It experiences a tropical climate characterized by distinct wet and dry seasons.
The area is governed by a local government council responsible for providing essential services, infrastructure development, and maintaining law and order within the LGA. The LGA council is headed by a chairman elected by the residents of Owan West.
