Damaged (band)
Damaged was an American hardcore punk band formed in Washington, D.C. in 1980. The band is primarily known for its fast, aggressive sound and politically charged lyrics. They were part of the burgeoning D.C. hardcore scene alongside bands like Minor Threat and Bad Brains.
The original lineup consisted of vocalist Bert Queiroz, guitarist Lyle Preslar, bassist Brian Baker, and drummer Jeff Nelson. Later, Bert Queiroz left the band and was replaced by Dave Smalley. The band released several EPs and contributed tracks to compilation albums that documented the early D.C. punk sound.
Damaged is notable for its relatively short lifespan, disbanding in 1981. Despite their brief existence, their impact on the hardcore punk genre is significant. Their music has been cited as an influence by numerous bands in the hardcore and punk scenes. Brian Baker later achieved wider recognition as a member of Bad Religion.
