Dusty Rhodes (outfielder)
Dusty Rhodes (born August 24, 1927, in Mathews, Alabama, died July 3, 2009, in West Palm Beach, Florida) was an American professional baseball player. He was a left-handed outfielder who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Giants (1952, 1954-1957), Cleveland Indians (1958), and Baltimore Orioles (1959).
Rhodes is best remembered for his clutch hitting performance in the 1954 World Series against the heavily favored Cleveland Indians. He hit a game-winning home run in Game 1, driving in three runs. In Game 3, he delivered a pinch-hit single that drove in two runs, ultimately securing a 6-2 victory for the Giants. Rhodes contributed significantly to the Giants' four-game sweep of the Indians.
