John Stevens (ice hockey)
John Stevens (born May 4, 1966) is a Canadian ice hockey coach. He is currently an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Stevens has had a long and successful career in coaching, both in the NHL and at the junior level. He began his coaching career in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), serving as an assistant coach with the Kitchener Rangers and then as head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers' AHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, winning the Calder Cup in 2005.
He was promoted to head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2006, a position he held until 2009. He subsequently served as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Kings, helping them win two Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014. He was named head coach of the Kings in 2017, but was relieved of his duties during the 2018-19 season. He then served as an assistant coach for the Dallas Stars before returning to the Kings as an assistant coach.
Stevens is known for his defensive-minded coaching style and his ability to develop young players. He has a reputation as a respected and experienced coach in the NHL.
