July (album)

July is the self-titled debut album by the British psychedelic folk band July, released in 1968. It is considered a landmark album in the psychedelic rock genre, notable for its innovative studio production techniques and distinctive sound.

The album features a blend of folk melodies, distorted guitars, and experimental sound effects. Its lyrics often explore themes of dreams, nature, and introspection. The original lineup of July consisted of Tom Newman (vocals, guitar, songwriting), Tony Durant (guitar, vocals, songwriting), Chris Jackson (bass), and Jon Field (flute, keyboards).

July was produced by Tom Newman, who later achieved fame as the producer of Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells. While not a commercial success upon its initial release, July has since gained a cult following and is highly regarded by musicians and music enthusiasts.
