Luis Polonia
Luis Polonia (born October 1, 1963) is a former professional baseball player from the Dominican Republic. He primarily played as an outfielder throughout his Major League Baseball (MLB) career, which spanned from 1987 to 1999. Polonia played for several teams, including the Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, California Angels, Atlanta Braves, and Detroit Tigers.
Known for his speed and ability to get on base, Polonia was a valuable leadoff hitter. He was a key member of the Oakland Athletics team that won the World Series in 1989. Polonia was also known for his defensive prowess and strong throwing arm in the outfield.
During his MLB career, Polonia accumulated a career batting average of .293 with over 1,000 hits.
