Stan Wootton

Stan Wootton (born c. 1930, died c. 2016) was a British railway preservationist, known for his significant contributions to the Bluebell Railway, one of the earliest preserved standard gauge railways in the United Kingdom. He joined the Bluebell Railway Preservation Society soon after its inception in 1959 and became a prominent figure in its operation and management. Wootton held various roles within the railway, including serving as Traffic Manager, playing a crucial role in coordinating train services and ensuring the safe and efficient running of the line. He was a dedicated volunteer for many years, contributing countless hours to the restoration and maintenance of locomotives, rolling stock, and infrastructure. Wootton's expertise and passion for railways were instrumental in the Bluebell Railway's success and its continued status as a leading heritage railway attraction. He retired from active involvement in the railway in later life but remained a staunch supporter. His contributions are still remembered and valued by the Bluebell Railway community.
