Mona Singh (scientist)

Mona Singh is an American computer scientist known for her research in computational biology, particularly in the development and application of algorithms for understanding protein networks, biological pathways, and disease mechanisms. She is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Princeton University, and also holds appointments in the Princeton Institute for Computational Science and Engineering (PICSciE) and the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics.

Singh's research focuses on integrating diverse types of biological data, such as protein-protein interactions, gene expression profiles, and genomic sequences, to gain insights into cellular processes and human diseases. Her work has contributed to the understanding of cancer, including identifying potential drug targets and biomarkers. She develops novel computational methods for network analysis, machine learning, and data mining to address fundamental problems in biology and medicine.

Singh received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her research, including being named a Fellow of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB). She is actively involved in promoting diversity and inclusion in STEM fields. Her research has been published in leading scientific journals and conferences, and she is a frequent speaker at international meetings. She also serves on the editorial boards of several journals in the field of computational biology.
