Johann König (painter)
Johann König (1858-1934) was a German painter, primarily known for his landscape paintings and genre scenes. Born in Nürnberg, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Gabriel Hackl, Wilhelm von Diez, and Ludwig von Löfftz. König's work often depicted idyllic scenes of rural life in Bavaria and the surrounding regions. He was particularly skilled at capturing the nuances of light and atmosphere in his landscapes. His genre paintings frequently featured depictions of everyday life, such as farmers at work or villagers celebrating local festivals. König exhibited his works regularly in Munich and other German cities, and his paintings are held in several public and private collections. While not a leading figure of the German art scene of his time, he achieved regional recognition and his works are appreciated for their detailed realism and sentimental depiction of Bavarian life.
