Ed Halter

Ed Halter (born 1967) is an American film critic, writer, and educator, known for his work on avant-garde cinema, underground film, and experimental media. He is a co-founder and former director of Light Industry, a venue in Brooklyn, New York, dedicated to showcasing and preserving rare and underseen film and video.

Halter's writings have appeared in publications such as Artforum, Film Comment, The Village Voice, Cinema Scope, October, and The Believer. He is the author of From Sun Tzu to Xbox: War and Videogames (2006), a study of the relationship between military strategy and video games, and Mass Effect: Critical Perspectives on the Galaxy (2017). He has also contributed essays to numerous anthologies and museum catalogues.
