Smash Hits (The Jimi Hendrix Experience album)

Smash Hits is the name of two different compilation albums by the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

The first Smash Hits album was released in the United Kingdom in 1968 by Track Records. It featured a collection of the band's hit singles and popular tracks from their first two albums. This UK version included tracks such as "Purple Haze," "All Along the Watchtower," "Hey Joe," and "The Wind Cries Mary." It served as a way for fans in the UK to easily acquire some of the band's most popular recordings.

A different Smash Hits album, with a different track listing, was released in the United States in 1969 by Reprise Records. This version also included popular tracks and hit singles but featured some different songs compared to the UK version. Notably, the US version contained the studio version of "Star Spangled Banner" as well as other tracks like "Crosstown Traffic" and "Remember."

Both Smash Hits albums proved to be commercially successful and contributed to the band's widespread popularity. They provided accessible entry points for new listeners and remain significant parts of the Jimi Hendrix Experience's discography, showcasing their influential psychedelic rock sound.
