Pariguana
The Pariguana is the common name for the Andean Flamingo (Phoenicoparrus andinus), a species of flamingo native to the high Andes mountains of South America. These birds are characterized by their pale pink plumage, yellow legs, and black beak with a large yellow base. They are one of the rarest and most threatened species of flamingo, facing challenges such as habitat loss, disturbance from mining activities, and water pollution. Pariguanas feed primarily on diatoms and other small organisms found in alkaline lakes. They form large flocks and undertake seasonal migrations within their Andean habitat.
