Shy (album)
Shy is the debut studio album by English singer-songwriter Shakespears Sister, released in 1989. The album was released under the name Shakespears Sister, a solo project of Siobhan Fahey, formerly of Bananarama. Shy explores themes of vulnerability, relationships, and self-discovery, presented through a blend of alternative pop and rock influences.
The album spawned several singles, including "Break My Heart (You Really Break My Heart)" and "You're History". While initially not a commercial success, Shy laid the foundation for Shakespears Sister's later breakthrough album, Hormonally Yours, which was released in 1992. The album's production involved various collaborators and contributors, resulting in a diverse sonic landscape. Despite its initial lack of significant chart impact, Shy is considered by some as an important stepping stone in Fahey's artistic evolution and the development of the Shakespears Sister sound.
