Gregory (lunar crater)
Gregory is a lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the northwest of the larger crater Condon, and northeast of Erman.
This crater is a relatively fresh feature, with a well-defined rim that has suffered only minor erosion. The inner walls are terraced, and slope down to a somewhat irregular, hummocky floor. There is a small central peak located near the midpoint of the crater.
Gregory is named after James Gregory, a 17th-century Scottish mathematician and astronomer. It was officially named by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 1970.
