Bald Hills (Lassen County)

The Bald Hills are a series of low, rounded hills located in Lassen County, California. They are situated in the northeastern portion of the county, generally northeast of the Madeline Plains and west of the Nevada border. The hills are characterized by sparse vegetation, primarily consisting of grasses and sagebrush, giving them a "bald" appearance, particularly in contrast to more heavily forested areas in other parts of Lassen County. The elevation of the Bald Hills varies, but generally ranges between 5,000 and 6,000 feet. The area is primarily used for grazing livestock, and experiences cold winters and hot, dry summers. The Bald Hills are considered part of the Great Basin ecosystem.
