David Thomson (bishop)
David Thomson (born 22 March 1952) is a retired Scottish Episcopal bishop. He served as the Bishop of Aberdeen and Orkney from 2006 to 2017.
Thomson was educated at Edinburgh Theological College and ordained in 1976. He served as a curate in Inverness before becoming Rector of St John's, Alloa. He then held the post of Provost of St Ninian's Cathedral, Perth, prior to his election as Bishop of Aberdeen and Orkney.
During his episcopate, Thomson was involved in a number of initiatives within the Scottish Episcopal Church, including discussions on same-sex marriage. He retired in 2017 and was succeeded by Anne Dyer.
