Woodpigeon (band)

Woodpigeon was a Canadian indie rock band fronted by singer-songwriter Mark Andrew Hamilton. Formed in Calgary, Alberta, in 2005, the band's music was characterized by its blend of folk, pop, and orchestral arrangements, often incorporating instruments such as banjos, brass, and strings.

Hamilton, the primary songwriter and creative force, explored themes of love, loss, and spirituality in his lyrics. The band's sound evolved over time, incorporating electronic elements on later recordings.

Woodpigeon released several EPs and full-length albums, including "Songbook" (2006), "Treasury Library Canada" (2008), "Die Stadt Muzikanten" (2009), "For Paolo" (2012), and "T R O U B L E" (2016). They toured extensively in Canada, Europe, and the United States, gaining a dedicated following for their live performances.

In 2017, Hamilton announced that he would be retiring the Woodpigeon moniker, citing a desire to pursue other creative projects. He has since released music under his own name.
