Saian (rapper)
Saian Supa Crew, often shortened to Saian, was a French hip hop collective active from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. Known for their innovative blend of rap, beatboxing, and singing, the group comprised four individual groups: Explicit Samouraï, OFX, KLR, and Section C. Their members included Leeroy Kesiah, Sir Samuel, Vicelow, Feniksi, Sly the Mic Buddah, and Specta.
Saian gained significant recognition for their complex lyrical content, intricate vocal harmonies, and energetic stage presence. Their music frequently addressed social and political issues, delivered with a characteristic blend of humor and seriousness. They are perhaps best known for their singles "Angela," a major commercial success, and "KLR," showcasing their lyrical prowess.
The group released two studio albums, KLR (1999) and X Raisons (2001), both critically acclaimed and commercially successful. X Raisons earned them a Victoires de la Musique award, solidifying their status as a prominent force in French hip hop.
Despite their success, Saian Supa Crew disbanded in 2007, with members pursuing solo projects or returning to their original groups. However, their impact on French hip hop remains significant, inspiring many subsequent artists with their creative approach to the genre.
