Saab 38

The Saab 38 was a proposed Swedish military aircraft project in the late 1960s intended to replace the Saab 105. It was designed as a multi-role combat aircraft capable of performing attack, reconnaissance, and training missions. Several different design configurations were considered, including single-engine and twin-engine variants, with varying wing configurations. The project aimed to deliver a cost-effective and versatile aircraft. Ultimately, the Saab 38 project was cancelled in the late 1960s due to budgetary constraints and shifting priorities within the Swedish Air Force. No prototypes were built. The planned capabilities were eventually addressed by other platforms and upgrades to existing aircraft.
