Mišljen (veliki tepčija)

A mišljen (sometimes also spelled mišeljen) refers to a specific type of large, round, and shallow earthenware baking dish (tepčija) traditionally used in the Balkans, particularly in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These dishes are characterized by their significant size, often larger than typical tepšijas, and their use in preparing dishes like burek, pita, and other savory pies or roasted foods for large gatherings or families. The word "veliki tepčija" (meaning "large tepčija") is often added to clarify the distinction from smaller baking dishes of the same general type. Mišljens are known for their even heat distribution during baking, contributing to the characteristic texture and flavor of the foods prepared in them.
