Shōwachō Station (Osaka)

Shōwachō Station (昭和町駅) is a railway station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line in Abeno-ku, Osaka, Japan. The station is numbered M21.

Location and Overview

Located in a primarily residential area, Shōwachō Station provides convenient access to local neighborhoods and businesses. It is situated beneath Abeno-suji street, a major north-south thoroughfare.

Station Layout

The station has an island platform serving two tracks. The platforms are located underground. Typically, passengers board trains heading north towards Umeda and Esaka, or south towards Nakamozu.

History

Shōwachō Station opened on September 21, 1937, as part of the initial opening of the Midosuji Line between Umeda and Shinsaibashi. It has been in continuous operation since.
